William K. "Billy" Evans Sr. - 1926-2010
William K. "Billy" Evans Sr., 83, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Princeton, Ky., a son of the late A.C. Evans and Thelma Kennedy Evans.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn J. Evans, on July 31, 2009; a son, Billy K. Evans Jr.; and a sister, Mary Ann Evans.
He was a retired self-employed orchard manager. He was a U.S. Navy veteran (1943 through 1946) and Coast Guard veteran (1946 through 1956).
Surviving are two sons, James Newell Evans and Robert Evans of Oregon; a stepson, Bill (Connie) Warner of Grove City, Ohio; a daughter, Rebecca Hogue of Danville, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Marilyn (Jon) Nance of Grove City; three brothers, James (Margaret) Evans of Fairfax Station, Va., Thomas (Elke) Evans of Danville and Jack (Anne) Evans of Eugene, Ore.; a sister, Betty Jo Edwards of Danville; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Father Bert Valdes. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum, with military rites by Ceredo-Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Visitation will be an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Ashland-Boyd County Animal Shelter, 1025 Bob McCullough Drive, Ashland, KY 41102.
