Wayne Vincent Fannin (1927-2008)
Wayne Vincent Fannin, 80, passed from this life on Thursday, April 17, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Lawrence County, Ky., the son of the late Ike and Audrey Smith Fannin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nina Dorsey Fannin; a son, Kevin Fannin of Louisa; a daughter, Karen (Patrick) Stallings of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Trevor Fannin of Lexington, Tara Fannin of Joplin, Mo., and Jack and Lee Stallings of Houston; a sister, Nancy (Robert) Brooke of Florida; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah "June" Fannin Humphreys.
Wayne retired from Delco Products Division of General Motors Corp. in Dayton, Ohio, after 42 years of service, during which time he was awarded 32 patents on various electronic and component parts for automobiles. He was a 50-year member and past master of Green Hills Masonic Lodge 521 and Green Hills Chapter 567, and Order of Eastern Star where he served as chaplain.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in WWII.
Visitation will be Monday, April 21, 2008 at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland from 3 to 5 p.m. with funeral service at 5 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Tim Burton. Masonic and Eastern Star services will be at 4 p.m.
Interment will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park with military rites by Louisa American Legion Post 89.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lawrence County Animal Shelter, Isaac Road, Louisa, Ky., or American Cancer Society, Division of Multiple Myeloma.
