Violet Chandler

Violet B. Chandler, 85, of New Bern, N.C., formerly of Ashland, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, in UPAC-Trent Nursing Home in New Bern.
Mrs. Chandler was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Dahue, W.Va., a daughter of the late John H. and Nora Ward Blair.
She was also preceded in death by brothers Charles and Stanley Blair and sisters Ula Blair, Kathleen Blair and Virginia Westmoreland.
She attended Unity Baptist Church in Ashland and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Chandler of New Bern; daughters Jaynie C. Chandler and husband Howard E. Bunnell of New Bern and Holly C. Harris of Ashland; sisters Cleo M. Roberts (the late Leroy Roberts) of Louisville and Dorothy M. Dixon of Ashland; and grandchildren Nora E. Harris and husband Christopher Mounsey of London, England, and William M. Harris of Arapahoe, N.C..
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland by the Rev. Guy Moyer. Burial will follow the service. There will be no visitation.
Steen Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
