Sue Ellen Hampton, 71, of Ashland, was called to her heavenly home Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 , in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell. Sue was born March 18, 1945, in South Webster, Ohio, a daughter of the late Jesse and Martha Fultz Watkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Ray Hampton; her sisters, Verna Mae Johnson, Mary Elizabeth "Phyllis" Jacobs, Virginia Kelly and Anna Lucille Kimbler; brothers, William Stewart, Charles Kimbler and Judge Rutherford Kimbler. Sue was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Pentecostal faith and along with her late husband evangelized together at many area churches and revivals. Sue also worked for a short time at Western Hills in the Restaurant, McClure's Restaurant and John Steen Funeral Home. Survivors include her son, J.R. Hampton and his wife, Jaclyn, of Worthington; daughters Rosemary Gehringer and her husband, Lou of Ashland, Pamela Johnson and her husband, Brian, of Ashland and Paula Brooks of Flatwoods; grandchildren Michelle Sammons, Tiffany (Jeremy) Gardner, Sheila (Jonathan) Edwards and Maddison Hampton; great-grandchildren, Vanessa Johnson, Olivia Wilkerson, Melissa Sammons and Delontae' Taylor; sisters-in-law Henrietta Dotts and Gladys Hampton Martin; and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Ray Sexton and Windell Ely. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. -
