Rosella Mullins (1926-2009)
Rosella Pennington Mullins, 82, of Catlettsburg, stands face to face with the Heavenly Father after her passing on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, from Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Catlettsburg, the daughter of the late Orville R. and Martha Rahlman Pennington. She was widowed in 1999 by the loss of her husband of 54 years, Thomas W. Mullins. She dedicated her life to Christ at the age of 19 and was a faithful member of Bible Missionary Church in Ashland. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother and her focus has always been her family.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Layne and Wynemah Pennington; five brothers, Charles Pennington, Augustus Pennington, William Pennington, Allen Jean Pennington and Franklin Pennington; and a great-grandson, Jacob A. Wheeler.
Sadly, Rosella leaves behind an adoring family, including two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Ella Mullins Jr. and Robert K. "Bob" and Amanda Mullins, all of Catlettsburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Samuel Wheeler of Ashland, Jeanne and James D. Taylor of Catlettsburg and Ruth and Larry Christian of Columbus; a brother and sister-in-law, Orville R. and Kathleen Pennington Jr. of Catlettsburg; 15 grandchildren, including an extra-special caregiver and granddaughter, Becky Wheeler Jenkins; 33 great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law; and a host of extended family and friends.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Frank Hulett will offer a message of comfort, with a personal eulogy given by the Rev. Charles Rice. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as Mamaw's casket bearers.
