Robert Lee Vanderpool (1942-2008)
Robert Lee "Bob" Vanderpool, 66, of Westwood, husband of Sharon Collins Vanderpool, died Wednesday afternoon in Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Bob was born Dec. 11, 1942, at Ashland, a son of the late D.T. "Pete" and Carrol Keeton Vanderpool. He was a retired caster operator at AK Steel, a member and trustee of Fairview Baptist Church, an NRA Life Member and a member of the North Eastern Kentucky Fish and Game Association. He was a Campfire leader and former board member of the Tri River Campfire Council.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Christopher Dean Vanderpool and wife Kelli Jo of Lexington, Shannon Ray Vanderpool and wife Kathie of Lexington and Robert Matthew Vanderpool and wife Sarah of Louisville; a sister, Donna Cook and husband John of Ashland; five grandchildren, Taryn, Aleric, Raymond, Gracie and Isaac Vanderpool; and two stepgrandchildren, John and Joanna Kasper.
Funeral services will be at noon Monday at Fairview Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Rice. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland and an hour before services at the church. Condolences may be sent to prestonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
