ASHLAND - Robert Ray "Bob" Riggle, 73, of Ashland, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, July 5, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Bob was born in Huntington, W.Va., on March 21, 1940, to the late Claude Ray and Kathleen Nelson Riggle.
He worked as a boilermaker, having retired from Local 40 in 2003. Bob enjoyed skydiving, hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Tufts, in 2003.
Left behind to cherish his memory is a loving family, including his sister, Janet McLaughlin of Flatwoods; a brother-in-law, Kenny Tufts; his 14-year-old Australian shepherd, Paint, who was a faithful and devoted companion for many years; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the Community Hospice Care Center staff for the care they gave to Bob and the compassion they showed the family during a difficult time.
