Robert Yoho Moore - 1927-2009
Robert Yoho Moore of The Villages, Fla., passed away at his home on Feb. 21, 2009.
He was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Widen, W.Va.
He was the son of the late Floy Beryl Yoho Moore and Walter Scott Moore of Huntington, W.Va. He graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor of science degree in engineering science. He worked for Ashland Oil Inc. in Ashland, Ky., for approximately 30 years, with a significant amount of that time spent in the trucks and terminals department. He retired in 1986 as manager of the facilities engineering department.
He leaves to cherish his memory his five children, Robert Y. Moore Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Bedford, Texas, Joy Ward and her husband, Fred, of West Hartford, Conn., Jill Mayo and her husband, Vaughn, of Virginia Beach, Va., Max K. Moore and his wife, Jane, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Kay Edelmann of Arcadia, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Roxanna Ward, Frances Ward, Max Ward, Chet Mayo, Katie Mayo, Kassie Moore, Alex Edelmann and Gabi Edelmann; a brother, Scott Moore of Huntington; and a cousin, Alex E. Booth Jr. of Stuart, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Karen Jones Moore; his sister, Elizabeth Schmidt; and a brother, Frederick Moore.
He moved to The Villages in 2002 and was a faithful member of St. George's Episcopal Church. Prior to moving to The Villages, he resided in Ashland, where he was an active member of Calvary Episcopal Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and junior and senior warden.
A memorial service will be March 12 at St. George's Episcopal Church in The Villages. A private ceremony for interment of ashes will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland at 11 a.m. March 14.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
