Richard I. Kincaid - 1932-2009
Richard I. Kincaid, 76, of Raceland, Ky., went to be with his Lord on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mr. Kincaid was born Nov. 16, 1932, in Pikeville, Ky., a son of the late Ezra L. and Artie Branham Kincaid. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William I. Kincaid; two sisters, Rosie Clark and Barbara Conley; and a special nephew, William Mark Kincaid.
He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict as a medical corpsman and dental technician. He retired from CSX Transportation as a railway clerk after 43 years of service. He also served as local chairman for Roosevelt Lodge 359 and vice general chairman of C&O System Board 146. He was a member of Raceland First Baptist Church and served as Raceland mayor, police officer and police chief. He was a member of the Raceland school board and was Raceland school board chairman and coached Raceland Little League football.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Fonnie Smith Kincaid; two sons, Richard Steven (Jane) Kincaid of Worthington and James Lawrence Kincaid of Raceland; and two grandchildren, Davin Nicole Kincaid and Taylor Ann Kincaid.
The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky., by the Rev. Tom Stephens and the Rev. Tim W. Clark. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Ky.
Visitation will be after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
