Retha's Story Text size A A A $(document).ready(function(){ mod_photo_gallery_v2.show_thumbnails = true; }); Retha Pauline Turner, 92, of Raceland, passed away Tuesday, Jan 3, 2017, in Woodland Oaks Nursing Facility. Mrs. Turner was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Wolfpit, to the late Frank and Armina Ratliff-Stafford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Turner; and a sister, Christine Skidmore. Retha was a former detail clerk and assistant manager for Sears in Mullens, W.Va. She was a member of Advance Memorial United Methodist Church in Flatwoods for more than 35 years and a member of the church's Women's Organization. When she wasn't camping, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She is survived by her son, James (Linda) Turner; two grandchildren, Michael (Patricia) Turner and Patricia (Stephen) Mansfield; three great-grandchildren, Megan (Wesley) Pritchard, Morgan Mansfield and Christopher Turner; her nieces and nephew, Patty Trujillo, Randy Campbell, Suzanne Trujillo and Michael (Sharon) Trujillo; and a special niece, Gail (Bob) Wells. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan 6, 2016, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Pastor Michael Rice officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. -
