RUSH - Ramona Leadingham Sweeney, 75, of Rush, passed away Tuesday evening, July 16, 2013, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
She was born Nov. 29, 1937, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Henry and Lila Howell Crain. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Melvin Leadingham in 1983 and James Sweeney in 1993; and a brother, Larry Crain.
Ramona attended Bethlehem United Baptist Church in Kenova. She was in the first graduating class of King's Daughters Hospital School of Nursing and worked for 32 years as a registered nurse.
Survivors include two sisters, Joyce Whitlock and husband Sam of Catlettsburg and Carolyn Smith of Newark, Ohio; two stepsons; a stepdaughter; numerous stepgrandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Friday, July 19, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Elder James Williamson and Elder Richard Napier. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 18, 2013, at the funeral home.
