Phyllis Wurts

Phyllis Rankin Wurts, 84, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday July 3, 2018 at the Hospice Care Center. She was born August 8, 1933 in Ashland, the daughter of the late Bert S. and Martha Fannin Rankin. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Sturgill. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress. She was a member of the South Ashland United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active with the children's ministry. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Harry Wurts; two daughters, Becky Powers and Lynn McClelland of Ashland; two sons, Steve (Libby) Wurts of Lexington, KY and Paul (Karen) Wurts of Ashland; one sister, Geneva Byer of Russell; Nana to six grandchildren, Katie Wurts, Keri Wurts, Corey Powers, Dustin Robbins, Jessica Robbins and Haylee Wurts; six great grandchildren, Austin Wurts, Noah Wurts, Katlin Wurts, Conner Robbins, Macey Robbins and Lynley Robbins. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday July 6, 2018 at Rose Hill Burial Park by Rev. Joe Elam. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the South Ashland United Methodist Church, Building Fund 2203 29th St, Ashland, KY 41101.
