Paul Vernon Barber Sr 1935-2017
Paul Vernon Barber Sr, 82, of Ashland, KY went to be with the Lord Tuesday November 7, 2017. Mr. Barber was born January 23, 1935, a son of the late Willard and Zella Fannin Barber. He is also preceded in death by one son Paul V. Barber III; two brothers Danny Barber and Elmo Barber.
After High school Mr. Barber proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal. He continued his service in the National Guard of the United States for thirty-four years. He went on to be Captain of the Auxiliary Police in Ashland, a Kentucky Colonel, and a Mechanic at the OMS Shop.
Mr. Barber is survived by his loving wife Frances Bandy; one daughter Cheryle (Edward) Melvin; three sons Paul V. Barber Jr, David (Karen) Barber and Jeff Barber; five grandchildren Bryant (Candace) Melvin, Travis (Samantha) Melvin, Christy Barber, Melissa Barber and Jennifer Barber; four great grandchildren Sophie Melvin, Collyn Melvin, Khloe Conley and Patrick Conley.
A visitation will be on Friday November 10, 2017 at the Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, KY from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday November 11, 2017 also at the Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Charles Rice. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park and Mausoleum in Ashland, KY.
