Orville Ray "Bud" Pennington Jr., 93, a lifelong resident of Catlettsburg, passed away Nov. 10, 2014, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland with his family by his side.
Mr. Pennington was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Catlettsburg, a son of the late Orville Ray Sr. and Katie Ralhman Pennington. Orville graduated from Ashland High School and attended Yost Elementary School. He retired from Fannin Glass in 1986 after 47 years of service as a glazier, and was a lifetime member of IUPAT Local 1195 of Charleston. He enjoyed fishing.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, John D. Pennington; brothers Gus Pennington, Charles Pennington, Bill Pennington, Allen Jean Pennington and Frank Pennington; and sisters Rosella Mullins, Helen Layne and Wymema Pennington.
Survivors include his loving wife of 74 years, Kathleen Salmon Pennington; a daughter, Lillian Adams (Larry) of Catlettsburg; grandchildren David (Becky) Pennington, Earl Pennington, Jessie Lynnette (Doug) Stevens, Sue Ann Barger, Christine Adams, Brenda Adams, Larry (Angie) Adams and Lori (Brian) Messenger; great-grandchildren Aaron and Nate Stevens and Bud and Michael Pennington; a great-great-granddaughter, Kylie Brooke Stevens; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Mr. Pennington will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg by Pastor Frank Hulett. The final resting place will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
