Olaf "Oak" Nelson - 1917-2010
Olaf "Oak" Nelson, 92, of Catlettsburg, passed away Saturday, March 20, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born July 18, 1917, in Martin County, to the late Harry Nelson and Virgie Jude Nelson Lambert.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Letha Marie Nelson in 1998; sister, Emily Owens; brother, Woodrow Nelson and nephew, Joseph Nelson.
He retired from Columbia Gas in Kenova, W.Va. He also loved to garden.
Olaf is survived by two sons, Hary Nelson (Diana) of Ashland and Jim Nelson (Sue) of Vinton, Va.; five grandchildren, Tim Nelson (Suzie) of Biloxi, Miss., Ryan Nelson (Melissa) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kim Drew (Tim) of Vinton, Roni Arven (Ted) of Roanoke, Va., and Richie Nelson of Hickory, N.C.; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley Nelson, Rachel Nelson, Grace Nelson, Lily Nelson, Ragen Drew, Mason Drew, Cody Arven, Brook Arven and Ashley Arven; a brother, Frank Nelson (Billie) of Catlettsburg and sister-in-law, June Hill of Dayton, Ohio. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, March 23, 2010, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola St., Catlettsburg. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home with Pastor Troy Poff officiating.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
