Millard R. Stewart (1919-2008)
Millard R. Stewart, 89, of Grayson, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.
He was born March 31, 1919, in Ashland, a son of the late Fred and Lavinia (Click) Stewart. He was a retired welder with Vecellio & Grogan in Beckley W.Va., and a member of the UMWA and Gregoryville Christian Holiness Church, where he served as a deacon for 25 years. He was a former member of the Coon Hunters Association.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Juanita Berry Stewart; and a sister, Annabee Osborne.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Grubb Stewart; three sons, Larry R. (Diane) Stewart of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Forest Douglas (Shirley) Stewart of Ashland and Michael D. (Deanna) Stewart of Burnsville, W.Va.; two daughters, Sandra K. (Michael) Wood of Shady Spring, W.Va., and Lynne A. Godby and special friend Fred Clemens of Shady Spring; a brother, Amos Stewart of Ashland; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Cheryl, Larry, Joseph, Dawn, Aprile, Dustin and Brittany; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Gregoryville Christian Holiness Church by Brother Lewis Davis. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Stewart Jr., Joseph Stalka, Dustin Godby, Brock Davis, Paul-Michael Kizer and Cameron Conley.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2008, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.
