Michael David Salyer - 1947-2010
Michael David Salyer, 62, of Richmond, Ky., passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, in Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. He was born May 29, 1947, in Ashland, Ky., to the late William Lewis and Opal Eloise (Greene) Salyer. His wife, Hannah M. Marg (Sullivan) Salyer, survives.
Michael was the owner and operator of Mike's Warehouse Liquor in Richmond for nearly 16 years and was a former employee of AK Steel in Ashland where he worked for 22 years. He was a member of Madison Hills Christian Church. He enjoyed his family, friends and church and loved playing golf.
In addition to his loving wife, Marg, he is survived by a daughter, Amy Lee Salyer-McDowell and husband Chris of Richmond; a son, Michael Salyer and wife Angie of Irvine; and 8 grandchildren, Payton Salyer, Taylor Salyer, Savannah Burns, Austin Salyer, Alexis Burns, Hannah Beth Salyer, Jack McDowell and Emma Claire McDowell.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Thomas Salyer; and a brother, Ken Salyer.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond with Bro. Marty Frazer officiating. Committal service and burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and at noon Tuesday at the cemetery chapel.
