Maxine Burns (1929-2009)
Maxine Gambill Burns, 80, of Westwood, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, following an extended illness.
Maxine was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Ashland, to the late John Washington and Mima Elizabeth Green Gambill.
She was a member of Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church where she was active in the Faithful Builders Sunday School class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Douglas Burns.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Douglas Burns and his wife, Barbara of Ashland and Jeffery Wayne Burns of Ashland; three brothers, Gene Joseph Gambill of Ashland, John Talmadge Gambill and his wife, Faye of Ashland and Michael Howard Gambill and his wife, Judith of Ashland; a sister, Helen Gambill Thomason and her husband, Charles of Ashland, Ohio; three grandchildren, Susan (Russ) Lemaster, Scott Burns and Stacy (Rus) Hamilton and a great-grandchild, Joshua Hamilton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church by the Rev. Ed Cook and Rev. Michael Locklear. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood and one hour before the service on Monday.
