Mary Lacy

Mary Katherine "Kathy" Barker Lacy, 86, of Ashland, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, in Emerald Crossings in Dublin, Ohio.

Mrs. Lacy was born Aug. 7, 1926, at Soldier, the daughter of the late William Henderson Barker and Mary Etta Furnish Barker.

Mrs. Lacy was also preceded in death by her husband, John W. "Jack" Lacy; her son, John W. Lacy Jr.; and 11 siblings, brothers Clayton B. Barker, Clyde Jarvis Barker, Charles E. Barker, Everett E. "Bill" Barker and Robert Lee Barker and sisters Mable M. Day, Grace E. Williams, Elizabeth L. Lewis, Dora N. Pence, Minnie M. Bays and Thelma L. Rees.

Mrs. Lacy was a 1949 graduate of Morehead State University and taught elementary school for more than 40 years in Soldier, Lexington and Ashland.

Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Jonda K. Lacy and William Pigueron of Dublin.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland. Graveside rites will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland by the Rev. Billy Ray Jennings.
