Mary Carolyn Bibb, 77, of Ashland, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family and caregivers on April 21, 2013.

She was born March 11, 1936, at Sassafrass, to the late William and Brunette Francis Centers. She was formerly from Hazard and came to Ashland in 1965.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Bibb, in 1990.

She graduated from Morehead State University with bachelor's and master's degrees. She was a home economics teacher in the Ashland school system for 28 years and taught at Putnam Junior High School and Paul G. Blazer High School. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, the Homemakers Club of Ashland and the Ashland Teachers Association and was a volunteer at King's Daughters Medical Center.

She is survived by a son, Robert Brooks Bibb Jr. and wife Evangeline Davis Bibb, and their children, Corrienna Elizabeth Tarr and husband Daniel, Josiah Brooks, Graham Davis and Hannah Michelle of Columbus, Ga.; a daughter, Elizabeth Bibb Corlyon and husband David Charles Corlyon of Lexington; and a sister, Helen Centers Vanderpool of Waynesville, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, 24, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Jason Porter officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions in her memory to Gospel Light Baptist Church, 1115 Trinity Lane, Ashland, KY 41102.
