Louise Robinette Shimer - 1921-2008
Louise Robinette Shimer, 86, of Ashland, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Carl and Florence Robinette.
She was a 1939 graduate of Ashland High School and was employed as a secretary for Ashland Oil, Jefferson Standard Insurance and the Boyd County PVA. She was a long-serving KDMC volunteer and a member and past office holder of the Democratic Women's Club. She was a homemaker and member of South Ashland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 621/2 years, Wilson B. "Chick" Shimer; a sister, Alice Parsons of Ashland; two sons, Michael (Sharon) Shimer of Ashland and Robert Shimer of Lexington; twin grandsons, Jason and Justin (Amy) Shimer, both of Ashland; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Drew and Haley Shimer of Ashland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be conducted by the Rev. Lance Campbell, with burial in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the Boyd County Public Library.
