Louis McLaughlin - 1942-2008
Louis C. McLaughlin, 65, of Flatwoods died Saturday in Ashland. He was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Ashland, the son of the late William Everett and Lucille E. Meade McLaughlin. He was the husband of Janet Lou Riggle McLaughlin, who survives.
He was a machinist for C&O/CSX Railroad and attended the Wurtland Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the National Guards, and he was a member of the Smith Lodge 775 F&AM, Local 249 IA of M&AW.
He also was preceded in death by one brother, Willie Everett McLaughlin.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons and daughters-in-law, L. Collin and Rebecca McLaughlin II of Flatwoods and Bennie and Amy Dickison of Ashland; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherri Lynn and Don Griffith of Flatwoods; three brothers, Harry McLaughlin of Victoria, Va., Clyde McLaughlin of Charlottesville, Va., and Phillip McLaughlin of Lexington; two sisters, Elsie Heslip of Charlottesville and Naomi Funkhouser of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Khristian Rice, Louis C. McLaughlin III, Casey W. McLaughlin and Kaylee J. Dickison; and one great-grandchild, Blake Rice.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
