Lonnie McComis, Sr 1925 - 2018
Lonnie McComis, Sr, 93, of Catlettsburg passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at his home, with loved ones at his side.
Mr. McComis was born April 21, 1925. in Ashland, KY to the late Joe and Ova Griffith McComas. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life Laura Belle Jones McComis in 2003, brothers, Bill McComas and Joe Creamons, sisters Violet Greene and Helen Hall, sisters-in-law, Irene Creamons, and Geneva Jones, and brothers-in-law, Arthur Greene, Paul Hall, Bob Kelley, and Charles Jones.
Lonnie attended Boyd County Schools, and served our country honorably during WWII where he fought in The Battle of the Bulge and received a Purple Heart. He retired in 1990 from Coyne Textile where he was a truck driver. His hobbies included golf, travel, and breakfast at McDonalds. Most importantly he recently accepted Jesus as his personal Savior.
Mr. McComis is survived by one son, Lonnie McComis, Jr and his wife Susy of Ashland, a granddaughter, Kim Hensley and her husband Errin, a grandson, Lance McComis and his wife Jennifer, four great grandchildren, Jordan Hensley, Megan Hensley, Kyle McComis, and Zach McComis. Also surviving is one sister, Jo Ann Kelley of Ashland, and one brother, Raymond McComas (Carolyn) of Flatwoods, KY.
The family wishes to thank his brother Raymond McComas and special friends Screech Nelson, Harlan and Mary Staton for visiting each week and special thanks to Community Hospice and to his caregivers.
A Funeral Service to honor Mr. McComis will be at 1:00pm Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg. Chaplain Jim Smedley will officiate. Final place of rest in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visiting hours will be from 11:00am until Service time at the Funeral Home.
