Lois Boggs Wilson passed away on February 22, 2019 at 7:00 a.m., God’s perfect number, at Community Hospice with her daughters by her side. Lois fought a courageous battle against cancer and as the Bible references the number 7 as completeness and perfection, her life’s journey on earth was completed at 7 am when God called her to her heavenly home.
Lois Lilly Boggs Wilson was born on April 20, 1940 to Merdie and Memphis Boggs. Her early childhood years were spent growing up in Kellen Holler in South Shore, Ky. The family moved to Russell later on in her adolescence years and that is where she met the love of her life, Carroll Durant Wilson. They were married until his death in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Clarence Boggs, and sister Faye Boggs McKenzie.
Lois loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing, hunting, running the family horse farm, and raising a garden. She instilled her love of nature and the outdoors to her daughters and grandchildren and she was their biggest fan while supporting them in their athletic and academic activities.
Lois was active in the family business of Merdie Boggs and Sons, a towing service business located in Catlettsburg until prior to her death.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughters, Stephanie (Dave) McKnight and Alison Christie. Also, grandchildren Brad (Sarah) Stephens, Sarah Stephens, Alex Christie and Austin Christie and great grandchildren Wyatt Steele, Landon Horn and another grandchild “on the way”. In addition to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lois is survived by her brothers Earl Boggs, Albert (Chris) Boggs, and Frank (Vicki) Boggs, a sister Joanna (Jim Griffith) Boggs Snider and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends, church members and our “family” of caregivers, especially Sherry Adkins and her daughter Amanda Spradlin.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg and a very special thank you to those church members who sent letters, cards, fruit baskets, and more and their unwavering spirit of love and caring throughout her battle.
