Levi Keathley - 1919-2008
Levi Keathley, 88, of Ashland, died March 7, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland after an extended illness.
He was born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1919, in Harold, Ky., the son of the late Bert and Lizzie White Keathley. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Forsyth Keathley.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church; Poage Lodge 325, F&AM, and El Hasa Shrine. He was a train dispatcher for the C&O Railroad and a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the 13th Army Air Force in the Southwest Pacific in the Philippines.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Keathley McClain.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son and daughter-in-law, Harry F. and Brenda H. Keathley of Catlettsburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Walker and Thursa Keathley of Ashland; two granddaughters and their spouses, Valerie Jean Keathley of Lexington and Melissa and Tony Downey of Ashland; and three great-granddaughters.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by the Rev. William Moore. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be after noon Monday at the funeral home.
