Laura Dalton

April 1, 1919 — February 11, 2013

On Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center, the angels stepped back and welcomed Katherine to her new home. Also anxiously awaiting her arrival were her son-in-law, Frank Duvall, and her grandson, Donnie Sargent.

Katherine was born April 1, 1919, in Carter County, to the late Jenny and Avery Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Houck, and her infant son, Bobby Ray Houck; three sisters, Pearl Clark, Mearl Ferguson and Marie Jordan; and three brothers, Ralph Wilson, Woodrow Wilson and Avery Wilson Jr.

She is survived by her husband, James Dalton; daughters Betty Duvall, Lorraine (Don) Sargent of Ashland and Janita (Tom) Cordle of Argillite; and a brother, John (Eleanor) Wilson, of Knoxville, Tenn.

Katherine had eight surviving grandchildren, Christi (Shelby) Gill, Kathy (Sheldon) Wheeler, Jeff (Kim) Sargent, Joey (Carol) Duvall, Tommy (Sandie) Cordle, Shawn (Lora) Cordle, Melissa (Mike) Cox and Carma (Jason) Crum.

Katherine also had 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Katherine retired in 1984 from F.W. Means. She was a member of England Hill Freewill Baptist Church, where she sang with her family for many years.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 14, 2013, at England Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Catlettsburg by Pastor Willie May. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 13, 2013, at the church.

Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg is in charge of arrangements.
