Larry David Ferguson, 68, of Catlettsburg, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Larry was born April 2, 1948 in Relief, KY, a son of Pauline Cox Ferguson of Ashland and the late John William Ferguson. In addition to his father he was also preceded in death by a son John Russell Ferguson and a sister Virginia Cyrus.
Larry was raised in the Pentecostal church and a 1966 graduate of Boyd County High School. Larry enjoyed the outdoors especially bird hunting and fishing and was an avid Drag Car Racer. Larry retired from the Ashland Oil Refinery as a construction coordinator but still worked in the industry for many years through outside contractors. He worked with McGaw/Kokosing General Construction and Industrial Maintenance, Fluor Construction and was a senior Project Coordinator with C&I Engineering. Larry proudly served his country with the US Army, while stationed in Germany he served with the 101st Engineering Battalion.
Survivors include his wife Mary Fowler Ferguson of Catlettsburg, two daughters Malisha (Mike) Payne of Winchester, KY, and Jeana Hanson of Lexington, KY, brothers Chandis (Joy) Ferguson of Ashland, John Ferguson of Grayson, KY, sisters, Lucille (Harold) Hardeman of CatlettsburgChristine (Wayne) Blanton of Rush, KY; , Beverly S. Ritchey of Ashland, sister in law Robin Ferguson of Catlettsburg; grandchildren Brooks Arthur, Sara Morgan, Shelby Morgan, Jared "J.R. Morgan, Bailey Conley, great-grandchild Avery Morgan and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Rev. Dean Kuhn. Burial will follow with full military honors at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
