John Millis Jr

John Millis Jr., 77, of Ashland, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Millis was born on July 9, 1934, in Russell, a son of the late John Sr. and Eleanor Ramey Millis.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Gallaher Millis in July of 2011.
Mr. Millis was a member of the Russell (Bridges) Christian Church for more than 60 years and was recently attending at the First Baptist Church Russell. He was also very active in coaching baseball and basketball and mentoring to many of the area youth organizations. He retired from Armco Steel Company with more than 30 years of service, having worked in the metallurgical department and in electrical construction. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Phyllis Milem of South Point, Ohio, Linda Barker and her husband Don of Ashland and Diane Eplion and her husband Jim of South Point, Ohio; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil "Buck" Adkins of Raceland and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at the Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel with Pastor Ken Gowin officiating. Entombment will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, and in memory of his late wife, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness.
