Joe Cecil Coburn "The Sign Master" (1943-2008)
Joe Cecil Coburn "The Sign Master", 65, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Ashland native was born July 3, 1943, the son of the late Charles E. and Shirley M. Wright Coburn.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Kay Fleming Coburn, whom he married Aug. 17, 1967.
Joe is a 1961 graduate of Rock Hill High School. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church, the former chairman of the Cub Scouts Deering No. 103 and a member of Millwright Local 1519 in South Point. He was owner/operator of K.C. Joe's Luberama in Ironton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Coburn.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Richard Blanton of Russell, Ky.; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Joe and Missy Coburn of Kitts Hill; two grandchildren, Braden Joe Coburn and Daniel Richard Joe Blanton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Meredith of California, Anna Lou Robinson of Deering, Shirley and Rodney Haines of Russellville, Ky., and Jennifer and Gerald Vaughn of Deering; brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Clarice Coburn of South Point, Kenneth and Mary Coburn of Pedro, Carl G. Coburn of Deering and Ralph and Patricia Coburn of South Point; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Ashland with Pastor Charles Stewart and Pastor Ronnie Mays officiating.
Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, Ohio.
The body will lie in state one hour before the service at the church.
