Joan Stitt Wright, 73, of Rush, went home to be with her Lord, with her loving family at her side, on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Wright was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Zelienople, Pa., a daughter of the late Paul Ross and Beatrice Lucille North Stitt.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene C. Wright, in 2010.
Joan graduated from Zelienople High School in 1955 and Pinkerton School in Pittsburgh, Pa., with a degree in secretarial science. She retired from the Boyd County Public Library in 2000 as director of technical services. After Joan retired, she volunteered at the Boyd County Public Library's Summit branch and the Cannonsburg Elementary Library and Family Resource Center. She was a member of Grassland's Friendship Circle and the Boyd County Homemakers. She loved sports, knitting, reading, cross stitch, baking, picture taking, camping, flowers and watching her grandchildren play. The most important thing to her was her family.
Joan leaves behind her children, Bruce Wright and his wife, Cindy, and their children, Corey, Shelby and Lexie of Rush, Valerie Porter and her husband, Mark, and their children, Jesse and his wife, Michelle, David, Andrew, and Allison of Flatwoods, and Pam Dales and her husband, Herb, and their son, Kyler of Newark, Ohio; and a brother, Richard Stitt (Sandy) of Sahuarita, Ariz.
Funeral service for Mrs. Wright will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Minister J.R. Gullett will officiate. Final rest in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visiting hours are from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
