WESTWOOD - Jim H. Marsh, 79, of Westwood, went to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, July 20, 2013, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

He was born March 10, 1934, in Salyersville, to the late Elvis and Ruie Marsh. He was the youngest brother to Paul, Margaret, Helen and Dorotha.

Jim served his country as a Marine sergeant from 1954 to 1962 in the Korean War and played in the military band.

After his service to his country, he went to work for the Halzit Division of Ashland Oil as a truck driver. He retired after 35 years of service in 1994. After that he started driving for John W. Clark Oil Co. and then finished his truck-driving career with LR Daniels Transportation in 2006.

Jim became a Christian at the age of 30 and has faithfully served his Lord for 49 years at Rose Hill Baptist Church. He has enjoyed many years serving on the bus committee. He never missed a day checking on the vans and buses. For the past 12 years he has driven the van route for the school. He also enjoyed driving for the senior adults.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nae. He had four children, Donna Patton of Louisville, Diane (Steve) Humphrey of Lexington, David (Beth) Marsh of Grayson and Keith (Racheal) Marsh of Westwood; 12 grandchildren, Derek, Deron, Zach, Kodi, Shandi, Chase, James, Bradley, Seth, Michael, Kara Grace and Haley; five great-grandchildren, Milo, Kiley, London, Jaidyn and Kaden; a brother, Paul (Pearl) Marsh of Cannonsburg; and three sisters, Margaret Jackson of Augusta, Ga., Helen Kirk of Conway, S.C., and Dorotha May of Wheelersburg, Ohio.

A funeral service celebrating Jim's life will be at noon Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Rose Hill Baptist Church by Dr. Ronnie Mayes and Gary Arrington. A military service will follow at the graveside at Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood and an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Jim's Sunday school class will be honorary pall bearers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Rose Hill Bus Ministry or Rose Hill Christian School, 1001 Winslow Road, Ashland, KY 41102.
