Jill Watson

Jill Watson, age 81, passed away in Memphis, Tenn., May 10, 2019, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Born March 14, 1938, in Ashland, Ky., Jill grew up in Catlettsburg, Ky., and spent most of her life in the Ashland area.
The daughter of John “Jack” Watson and Mary Frances Lee Watson, Jill grew up in the home of her grandparents, Colbert and Victoria Lee of Catlettsburg. She was a graduate of Ironton High School and attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing… in Covington, Ky., from which she graduated in 1959 as class president. She attained a Regents}| Bachelor of Art’s Degree from Marshall University in 1995.
Jill’s career as a registered nurse spanned four decades, and she worked at many Tri-State hospitals, including King’s Daughters Hospital in Ashland, St. Mary’s Medical Center and Cabell Huntington Hospital. She married Harold Eagleston in 1962, and they had two daughters. Jill loved dancing and was a member of the Whirlaways Square Dance Club for many years. She was also a member of the Hilltop Homemakers Club.
A long-time member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Ashland, Jill converted to the Roman Catholic faith late in life through the nursing home visitation ministry of Church of the Holy Spirit in Memphis.
Jill is survived by one brother, Jack Watson, of Luthersville, Georgia, as well as her daughters: Brenda Eagleston Schultz (Patrick) of Cleveland, WI, and Leigh Ann Eagleston Roman (Erwin) of Memphis, TN. She leaves behind three grandchildren: Olivia and Joe Roman of Memphis, TN, and Grace Schultz of Cleveland, WI, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great- nephews. A brother, Julius Watson, preceded her in death as did her parents, and two grandchildren, Kristina and Christian Schultz.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation, to be held at noon July 5, at Neal Funeral Home, 2409 Center St., in Catlettsburg, Ky. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m.
