Jewell Murray (1926-2009)
Jewell Murray, 82, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, March 2, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Thomas Francis and Mollie Helton Francis.
In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Murray, in 1975; two brothers, Tom Francis and Jerry Francis; and two sisters, Betty Jo Prichard and Hazel Francis.
She was a self-employed entrepreneur and a member of American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and VFW. She was a Kentucky colonel.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Aaron (Candy) Murray of Virginia; a stepdaughter, Karen Murray of Greenup County, Ky.; a brother-in-law, Bob Prichard of Ashland; a nephew, Tom Francis of Worthington, Ky.; a niece, Robyn Vichich of Cranberry Township, Pa.; and a special friend, Coot Henry.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland by the Rev. Tom Heaberlin.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland.
