Jason Shimer

Jason Todd Shimer, 32, of Ashland, died Friday, July 30, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness. Jason was born July 23, 1978, in Ashland, Ky., the son of Michael E. and Sharon Kaye Bibb Shimer of Ashland. He was a 1996 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and Collins Career Center. He also attended ACC and UK. He was a paramedic and was on the National Registry of Paramedics that covered several states. He was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Ashland.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Madison and Stella Chapman Bibb; and his paternal grandmother, Louise Robinette Shimer.

Surviving, in addition to h is parents, are two sons, Benjamin "Hayden" Shimer and Phillip "Drew" Shimer of Ashland; a twin brother, Justin Michael and his wife Amy Jo Shimer of Ashland; a niece, Haley Elizabeth Shimer of Ashland; an uncle, Robert W. Shimer of Lexington; and his grandfather, Wilson B.a��Shimer of Ashland whom he cherished and loved very much; and a host of extended family and friends, including very special neighbors.

Jason will always be known for his bright smile, a great personality and the ability to brighten the lives of everyone he met. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Funeral services for Jason will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Clifton Salyers. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at the funeral home.
