Janice Cornette

Janice Cornette, 82, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012, in Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Pike County, a daughter of the late Willie M. Scalf Sr. and Ethel Bevins Scalf.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fathies "Jar Fly" Cornette in 1997; a son, Gary Cornette in 2009; brothers, Willie M. Scalf Jr. and Franklin Scalf and sisters, Maxine Slater and Ernestine Blackburn.
Janice was of the Baptist faith and will long be remembered as a devoted and loving homemaker.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Brenda (Paul) Mullins of Catlettsburg and Leigh Ann (Rex) Adams of Catlettsburg; daughter-in-law, Rita Cornette of Eastview; brother, Edgar (Ernestine) Scalf of Pikeville; sister-in-law, Faye Scalf of Pike County; grandchildren, Amanda Harbison, Brent Mullins, Kayla Fraley, Alyson Cornette, Andrew "Drew" Adams and Nicolas Adams; a great-grandson, Owen Harbison and two great-granddaughters on the way.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Keith Workman. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
