Janice Frances Helton Blair Asbury, 73, of Catlettsburg, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018, in Southern Ohio Medical Center.
She was born September 30, 1944 in West Liberty, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Harlan Thurston and Arpie Ethel Helton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Elzie Franklin Blair in 1977; brothers, Everett and Henry Helton and sisters, Louise Fugate and Bessie Holbrook.
Janice was a founding member of Kingdom Way Christian Assembly. She was the former owner and operator of Jan's Styling and was an active member of Catlettsburg Senior Citizens. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, flowers and listening to Elvis.
Survivors include her husband, Lucian Asbury of Catlettsburg, son, Dean Blair (Cindy) of Sanford, NC; daughter, Anita Hampton of Morehead; step daughters, Marlena Artrip (Mark) of Russell and Danita Hankins (Rick) of Ironton, OH; brother, Ernest Helton of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Virgie Douglas (Donnie) of Ashland City, TN; grandchildren, Brooke Hughley (Tomma), Drew Blair, Bram Hampton, Joseph Hampton, Calvin Hampton, Nicolle Manning, Brad Artrip, Justin Artrip, Jordan Hankins, Amber Wroblewski (Ron) and Andrea Clark (Shaun); and 11 Great Grandchildren.
A celebration of Janice's life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Kingdom Way Christian Assembly with Pastors Roger Johnson and David Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel.
