On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, Mrs. Janet Dee Fannin Mayhew passed away at her home at the age of 89. Janet was born on November 11th, 1930, and was a life-long member of the community. She was a graduate of Boyd County High School and served many years as the secretary for Cannonsburg Elementary School. Janet was a devout Christian, an active member of Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the Greenhill Lodge #567 Order of the Eastern Star. Her gracious will to serve others included many devoted years volunteering at the Cannonsburg Food Pantry.
Janet was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Garner Mayhew, and her parents John Dee Fannin and Goldie Jordan Fannin. She is survived by her brother Tom Fannin (Tommie), and her children: Johnny Mayhew (Cathy); Joan Gartin (Mike); Rae Roberts (Ed); and David Mayhew (Carolyn). Five grandchildren: Brian Mayhew (Lesley); Heather Sallie (Brent); Jill Hargis (Todd); Jordan Roberts; and C.D. Mayhew. Five great-grandchildren: Caid Hargis; Charlie Sallie; Reagan Mayhew; Ruby Mayhew; and William Mayhew.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel by Pastor Bruce Lee. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday from 11:00 am till service time at the funeral home.
