James L. "Jim" Thorpe - 1942-2009
James L. "Jim" Thorpe, 66, of Louisa, Ky., passed away Monday, March 30 after a long battle with cancer.
Jim was born June 1, 1942, at Biggs, Ky., the son of the late Zion and Nola Mae Whitt Thorpe. A brother, Roy Thorpe, also preceded him in death.
Jim was a disabled welder and self-employed the later years of his life. He loved collecting cars and going to car shows and was a member of Iron City Antique Auto Club.
Survivors include his loving wife, Brenda Vipperman Thorpe; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Kim Thorpe of Pikeville, Ky., and Shawn and Lisa Thorpe of St. Cloud, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Keisha Lee Thorpe, Morgan D. Thorpe and Brandi Lee Thorpe.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3 at the Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa by the Rev. Keith Workman. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Ky.
