James Lewis

November 10, 1931 — July 27, 2018

Mr. James Simon Lewis, age 86, of Salem Road, Grayson, Kentucky, passed away Friday evening, July
27, 2018, at his daughters residence in Ashland, Kentucky.
He was born November 10, 1931, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Lovell and Opal Kiser
Lewis.
James worked for 42 years at National ACME in Cleveland, Ohio. After he moved back home to
Grayson, he enjoyed rasing his cattle, maintaining his farm, hunting and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Lewis, and two sisters, Effie
Mae and Pauline.
James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty James Lewis; two daughters, Kelly Pence of Ashland,
Kentucky, and Karen Eslinger of Coalfax, Illinois; three grandchildren, Robbie (Michelle) Whicker and
Jeremy (Laura) Whicker, all of Coalfax, Illinois, and Michael (Cindy) Pence of Catlettsburg, Kentucky;
six great grandchildren; two sisters, Lula Lewis of Medina, Ohio, and Lois Fultz of McCormick, South
Carolina; and his pet companion whom he cherished, Aladdin. He also leaves many other family
members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Grayson Funeral Home &
Cremation Services in Grayson, Kentucky, with Sister Anita Wells Cooper officiating. Burial will
follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018, and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at
Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky 41143.
Robbie Whicker, Jeremy Whicker, Michael Pence, John Simmons, Adam Harlow and Charles Rice will
serve as pallbearers.
