James Edward Terreo, 89, of Ashland, died Monday June 30, 2014, in the Hospice Care Center of Dayton, Ohio.
He was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Beckley, W.Va., a son of the late James V. and Maude Rollyson Terreo. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Terreo; and two sisters, Geraldine Laston and Freda Gill.
Mr. Terreo is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janie I. Italiano Terreo; three daughters, Judith L. Cunningham of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Grace A. Shankles of Tucumcari, N.M., and Mary K. Yeager of Bellbrook, Ohio; two sons, David E. Terreo of Clear Lake, Ind., and Richard Terreo of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Joetta Marlor of Largo, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Terreo served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was the retired owner of Terreo Office Machines in Ashland. He was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Holy Family Church. He was past president of the Ashland Jaycees (1959-60), a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
There will be a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Holy Family Church in Ashland by the Rev. Father John Noe. Interment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
