James E. Ashley, 89, of Boyd County went to be with the Lord January 21, 2018 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Ashley was born January 30, 1928 to the late Cecil and Sadie Hicks Ashley of Naples.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Delores Sloas Ashley; sister, Edna Mae Johnson; brother, Carl Ashley; niece Carolyn Ashley Miller.
James was a union electrician and retired from Armco Steel in 1987. He was currently a member of the Ashland First Church of The Nazarene and attended there for over 26 years. Formerly he was a member of Summit Church of The Nazarene. He was a quiet selfless worker and provided countless hours of volunteer electrical and other maintenance support to his churches, Mount Hope Nazarene Camp Grounds and to his family and friends. He was also a former member of the Summit/Ironville Volunteer Fire Department and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Doug) Grace of South Point, Ohio; granddaughter, Lauren Grace; Sister Joanne Ashley of Naples; two nephews, Kevin and Randy Ashley of Naples; four very dedicated care-givers.
Entombment services will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Rose Hill Burial Park with visitation from 11 am to 12 pm at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
