James C. Cassity, 83, of Catlettsburg, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Sept. 21, 1929, in Ashland, the son of the late Thomas J. and Elizabeth Blair Cassity.
He was retired from Ashland Oil Inc., was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening and was a master woodworker.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janet Marjorie Cassity; brothers Lester Cassity, Victor Cassity, Edward Cassity, Junior Cassity and Chester Cassity; and sisters Lillian VanMeter and Myrtle Adkins.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Cassity of Catlettsburg and Teresa (James) Shock of Nitro, W.Va.; a son, James Scott (Brittney) Cassity of Gap Mills, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Mason Cassity and Chance Cassity; two nieces, Theresa Connors of Massachusetts and Gloria (Roger) Cook of Michigan; and a great-niece, Lisa Blevins of Michigan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Rose Hill Mausoleum in Ashland by the Rev. Mike Rice. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
There will be no visitation.
Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
