Jack Clay, 66, of Ashland, passed away in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell with his family by his side.
Jack was born July 31, 1946, to the late James and Gleyma Short-Clay in Flatwoods.
He worked as a Kentucky State Police dispatcher and retired after 28 years of service. Jack was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Cincinnati Reds baseball, Russell High School football and UK basketball.
Mr. Clay was a Kentucky colonel. He was known best for his sense of humor and strong work ethic. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Jane Cordel and Glenna Jean Martin; a nephew, Christopher Wayne Spencer; and a niece, Wendy Mann.
He leaves behind a lifelong partner, Billy Lykins of Ashland; sisters Sandra "Sue" (Roy) Grizzle of Flatwoods and Jamie Camille Spencer of Yakima, Wash.; a special friend, Gary Stevens; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all who will miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
