Idell Stephens Meeks, 83, of Westwood, widow of Gene Paul Meeks, died Monday evening, December 17, in the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Idell was born April 7, 1935 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Richard and Phoebe Helen Rucker Stephens. She was a member of the Summit Church of the Nazarene, a retired seamstress from the Cinderella Dress Factory, and former employee of Ashland Crafts.
Idell enjoyed cooking, gardening, and feeding the birds. In years past, she and Gene were members of the Arky Stars square dance club and they also enjoyed camping and the outdoors.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by three brothers; Garner, Argus, and Ernest Stephens; and 3 sisters, Norma Boggs, Orma Jackson, and Gladys Cornwell.
Surviving include a daughter, Rene' (Steve) Allen of Flatwoods, Kentucky; a granddaughter, Heather Miller (John) Price; a grandson, Lukas Allen; a great granddaughter, Reagan Marie Allen; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 22 at 1 p.m. at the Summit Church of the Nazarene by Mike Snyder, Jane Jarrell, and John Price.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be Monday, December 24th, at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Preston Family Funeral Home.
