Hugh Horn, Jr. 78, of Ashland, died peacefully at his home January 1 following an extended illness.
Hugh was born December 30, 1940 in Ashland, a son of the late Hugh and Oma Riffe Horn, Sr. He was retired from the West Processing department of AK Steel and was a member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Hugh loved his church and church family and was also especially fond of his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending family and church activities, gardening, and serving the Lord.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother, Bill Horn.
Hugh is survived by his wife and best friend, Sylvia Smith Horn, whom he met through a blind date January 1, 1962. Surviving also includes 2 sons, Fred Horn and wife Lisa of Ashland, Virginia, and Stacey Hugh Horn of Rush, Kentucky; a daughter, Missie Grayson and husband Buddy of Rush, Kentucky; sisters Maggie Barber and husband Gene of Middletown, Ohio, and Mary Brown of Wurtland, Kentucky; a sister-in-law Wilma Horn of Ashland; and four grandchildren, Abby Horn, Luke Grayson, Levi Grayson, and Leah Grayson.
Funeral Services will be Friday, January 4 at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill Baptist Church by Brother Matt Shamblin and Fred Horn. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Preston Family Funeral Home.
Donation may be made in Hugh's memory to Rose Hill Baptist Church.
