Gordon Franklin Osborne (1947-2009)
Gordon Franklin Osborne, 62, of Lloyd, Ky., formerly of Bakersfield, Calif., died Monday morning, Sept. 7, 2009, in Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
Gordon was born July 13, 1947, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Roy Beekham and Dora Marie Cox Osborne.
He moved to California as a young man in 1959, retired as produce manager with the Thrifty Corp., and returned to Kentucky in 2009. He enjoyed flower gardening, fishing and the outdoors. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two sons, James Roy Osborne and Sleepy Osborne; and three sisters, Delores Jean Young, Alice Darlene Sparks and Ruth Williams; and two brothers, Roy Osborne Jr. and Hiram "Sonny" Osborne.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Dean Osborne and wife Shelli of Fort Smith, Ark.; three brothers, Carl Herston Osborne and Patty Burns of Flatwoods, Ky., Wayne Douglas Osborne of Ashland and James Anderson Sherman of Bakersfield, Calif.; two grandchildren, Abbey and Zachary Osborne; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Tim Holmes. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Saturday.
