Goldie Mae Burchett, 87, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Kingsbrook. Goldie was born June 8, 1931 in Iron Gate, Virginia, a daughter of the late Clarence Givens and Catherine Shaffer McCaleb. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband William C. Burchett in 2012 and several brothers and sisters.
Goldie attended the Faith Baptist Church and the Russell First Baptist Church. She worked for a short time in advertising with The Daily Independent and also owned and operated Goldie’s Upholstery until its closing in 2011. Goldie was a secretary for the commission for children with special health care needs through the Commonwealth of Kentucky at its Summit Plaza Branch in Ashland.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Goldie will be buried next to her late husband Bill in the Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
At Goldie’s request there will be no service or visitation.
Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
