GLORIA McENTEE

Gloria Jean Stevens McEntee, of Ashland, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, Jan. 21, 2016, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, after a five year battle with cancer. Jean was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Raceland, a daughter of the late Clifford L. and Evelyn B. Meade Stevens. She was a 1957 graduate of Ashland High School. Before retirement, she worked as a nurse and then as an office manager. Jean was a loving mother and best friend, to her daughter Sherry, and was so loved by her family. Her son-in-law, Barrett "Barry" was very special to her as well and such a source of comfort to her. She loved being with her friends and family. Jean was the oldest of five and her brothers brought her joy and laughter. She loved the beach and going to lunch and movies with her dear friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful voice that she used to praise the Lord by directing and singing in the choir in her younger years. She loved her church and church family at Wildwood Baptist Church. The family would like to thank her church family for their love and fellowship to her. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Neeley (Barrett) McDavid of Flatwoods; four brothers, Gary Wayne (Carolyn) Stevens of Columbus, Ohio, Sherrill (Jean) Stevens of Flatwoods; Mike Stevens of Navar, Fla., and Clifford L. (Brenda) Stevens Jr. of Webbville; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home - 13th Street Chapel in Ashland with words of comfort by Pastor Tom Leach. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
