Geneva E. Pennington, 97, of Ashland, passed from this life at the Hospice Care Center on Monday, May 13, 2019.
She was born July 19, 1921, in Morgan County, KY, a daughter of the late George and Sarah Lykins Collinsworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Harry S. “Penny” Pennington; grandson, Steven Pennington; son-in-law, Tom Jones; four brothers and one sister.
Geneva was a member of the First Church of God in Ashland, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years, and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and the Mary, Mary, Mary Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Jones of West Union, OH; son, Greg (Regina) Pennington of Chillicothe, OH; seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Jeff) Caron of Monroe, OH, Eric (Diana) Blankenship of Spring, TX, Seth (Jamie) Blankenship of Manchester, OH, Josh Blankenship of Salt Lake City, UT, Tim (Shelby) Blankenship of Jackson, WY, J.J. (Laura) Pennington of Fairborn OH, Casey Pennington of Stafford, VA; ten great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with her son, Rev. Greg Pennington officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
