Geneva Jones - 1931-2008
Geneva Gillam Jones, 76, of Ashland, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born Feb. 27, 1931, in Hunnewell in Greenup County, the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Crisp Gillam. She was the wife of the late Albert Lee "Preach" Jones, who passed away on Nov. 2, 1994.
She was a cafeteria cook for Summit Elementary School and a member of Cannonsburg Trinity Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Jones; six brothers, Denver, Eryan, Henry, Leroy, Edward and Seaton; and seven sisters, Ann, Verna, Dorothy, Edna, Gladys, Grace and Stella.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Allan Lee and Shauna Jones of Ironville and Dale Edwin and Deanna Jones of Summit; five grandchildren and their spouses, Tracy and Joey Caldwell, Gary and April Jones, Katlyn Jones, Derek and Katie Jones and Drew and Jessi Jones; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Adison, Aly, Lexi, Bailey, Kelsi, Kaden and Payton, due in May.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Shane Brown and Joel Crawford, ministers. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
